Our Biography - The Team Approach

Neil Cowley is the primary artistic force behind the wedding photography experience with his quick shutter finger, easygoing smile and photofinishing creativity and precision.

Liesl Cowley is the assistant photographer, keeper of the e-mail, phone calls and photo editing.

Liesl is a fluent French speaker and a student of French literature and psychology. She is the mother our two children, and a full time Mom while balancing the demands of our business. Liesl's background in human behavior and acute perceptions drive her photographic vision.

Us with the kids

Together we form a powerful team with positive checks and balances. Our differences cause each of us to further our vision, and our strengths compliment our achievements. We couldn't be happier doing what we're doing.

In contrast to Liesl's feminine vision, Neil's strong graphic eye is quick to distill the basic elements of light, composition and human emotion into classically styled imagery. Two common features in Neil's work are a layered composition with strong angles and a strong expression captured in a minimalistic crop revealing the ideal form of the subject. Neil is educated as a studio artist in various mediums such as clay, paint, and printmaking and enjoys all forms of the visual arts.

Neil maintains a very active lifestyle and continuously seeks the perfect perspective in his pilgrimage to the convergence of people, places and light in the decisive moments that define his photography. At any given time, you might see Neil searching for the perspective he wants in any conceivable body position, which can get humorous with his 6'2" frame.
